I am feeling better today. I probably shouldn’t have used a sharpie pen for this because it took forever to ink her hair and it smudges on this paper so I can’t erase any of my pencil lines. Tracy Chapman is on the cafe radio, and you can’t really ask for more than that. I think I’m going to go thrift shopping later for some clothes if the roads cooperate. This morning was crazy icy!
This looks more like ennui than the mix of sad and lonely that I feel today. But I tried.
Cartoony little hippie. She looks totally unaware of the world and happy in the moment. Perhaps this is a celebration dance?
I sketched this and never finished, but this is a character concept and possible love interest for Robin.

Running on the treadmill last night, I started fantasizing about spies/assassins and other tough women in comics. I played through action scenes in my head and typical body types and costumes for ladies. (Ugh).
I decided sneakers are better than boots or high heels for running (chasing/fleeing) purposes, but if I were a superhero, I wouldn’t wear a leather jacket or anything because I’m a vegetarian. That struck me as funny—an assassin/spy/whatever with no qualms about killing people, but won’t kill an animal? Hm! This scene popped in my head and I knew I wanted to illustrate it. This is just a quick pencil sketch, but I imagine her with red or purple hair!
30-60 second little lion doodle. I might elaborate on this later. I attended a lecture given by Vin Burnam at the Toledo Museum of Art on Sunday. One of her work examples included an animatronic Aslan for BBC’s Chronicles of Narnia, so perhaps that is where my inspiration for this came from. (Or I just like kitty cats.)
I have a turkey illustration I need to do as well! I sketched out my idea for that, but I need to execute it (I am thinking watercolor and/or pastel). It would make a good Thanksgiving card, but do people send those? (I don’t even send Christmas cards)!
I did this with dry erase markers on our fridge whiteboard. The “I love you” is something from an old note that I kept.
All artists have done at least 100 drawings of people with one eye out of laziness.
This is pretty old (months ago). When I was little I liked drawing food. I guess I still do! I think it is a nice break from the faces I always draw.
